Game Recap: @OHLIceDogs break the @OHLBarrieColts 7 game win streak. #OHL

Last night the Niagara IceDogs snapped the Barrie Colts 7 game winning streak while extending their current win streak to 3 with a 5-2 win. The Colts lead after the first period with a 2 goal lead but the IceDogs had 5 unanswered goals to get the win.

First Period: Justin Scott opened the scoring for the Colts a little more that 1 minute into the first. The goal was Scotts 17th of the season and Andrew Mangiapane got the assist.

14:03 into the period the Colts would increase the lead to 2 when captain Joseph Blandisi scored his 28th of the season. Kevin Labanc was credited with the assist to extend his point streak to 24 games. As impressive as that is the OHL record for longest point streak is 55 games by Doug Gilmour and Brian Dobbin. Every one take a moment to realize how incredible that is.... Need more time? Because this is the last of the good news from this game.

Second Period: The IceDogs scored 2 goals in the first 8 minutes of the period. Mikkel Aagaard scored his 6th of the season and Christopher Paquette scored his 4th. That would be if for the scoring in the second period.

The IceDogs came out hard in this period outshooting the Barrie Colts 17-7. The Colts had 3 power play chances and were unable to capitalize once.

Third Period: Jordan Maletta (12th of the season) scored 4:47 into the period and that would be the game winner. The IceDogs scored 2 more late goals, one from Billy Jenkins (5th of the season) and with under 30 seconds left, Maletta scored his second of the night into an empty net. That would be enough to give the Dogs a 5-2 win over the Colts.

  • The Colts were 0-5 on the power play.
  • The last time Blackwood allowed more than 4 goals was November, 30th 2014 in Oshawa.
